Question on a PCI connector resistor

Hello,

I have one question on a connection on EVM6437.

On its PCI connector, I found that B3 GND is connected to VCC_3V3 rather than ground, and there is a NO-POP placeholder R164 connected with B3. Most important is that B3’s net PCI_PLUGn is then used to control {PCI_DETECTn & PCIEN} signal.

Is this configuration something like a pulling-up? When there is no PCI device connected, B3 will be pulled up by VCC_3V3 to high, thus effectively making

PCI_DETECTn

H

PCIEN

L

On the other hand, if a PCI device is connected, B3 will be connected through the device to other GND pins and has voltage low, making

PCI_DETECTn

H

PCIEN

L

So it is indeed provide DETECT and ENABLE functionality as the associated signal names suggest.

So in this regard R163 is essentially a pull-up?

Thanks,

Zheng
