AM5718: AM5718: QSPI Boot Signals Multiplexed with GPMC Signals

Part Number: AM5718

Hi,

In our new design using the SITARA Processor AM5718, we are planning to use QSPI NOR Flash as boot memory. In the Processor, the QSPI signals qspi1_rtclk qspi1_d[3:0];
qspi1_sclk; qspi1_cs[0] are multiplexed with GPMC signals gpmc_a[13:18], gpmc_cs[2]. We want to interface GPMC interface to an on board FPGA for local bus communication b/w Processor & FPGA. Can we configure the multiplexed signals as GPMC signals once Processor booting is completed? Couldn't find more information on boot signal multiplexing options other than in TRM table 33-10. Does the table is mentioning, once the boot device is selected & corresponding muxmode if fixed, it cannot be configured as a different interface after booting?

Expecting your support ASAP.

  • Hi,

    Adding to the above query, due to space constraints in PCB, we are planning to use smaller package QSPI Flash in which IO4 pin is shared with Hold# / Reset#. In order to disable Hold# / Reset# functionality the Flash configuration register need to be configured before loading boot image in it. We need confirmation whether it is possible to configure QSPI boot flash registers before boot image loading via Processor. Can anyone suggest booting sequence for a fresh QSPI boot flash.

    Regards

  • Yes - there is nothing from hardware perspective that blocks updating of the MUXMODE for the QSPI/GPMC pins.
