AWR2243: ADC data mapping to CSI2 RAW8/RAW12/RAW14 format

Dear TI Support,

I am planning on using the CSI2 interface on AWR2243 to transfer ADC data, however I am unsure about the format used to transfer the data on the CSI2 interface.

The following document section 5.1 mentions that the data is sent on the CSI2 in RAW8/ RAW12/ RAW14 formats.

The following document fig 9-4 and 9-5 shows how the data is transferred over CSI2.

However I can't find an explanation of how the ADC data is mapped to the CSI2 RAW8/ RAW12/ RAW14 formats as specified in the MIPI specification.

So would you be able to point me to information that explains how the ADC data is mapped to the CSI2 RAW8/RAW12/RAW14 data formats across the 4 physical CSI2 data lanes? If you can provide an example mapping that would be most helpful.

Thank you for your quick reply and links to the related thread.

I have had a look at these but it is still not clear how the ADC data is mapped to CSI2. Do you have any documents with a more comprehensive explanation that you could share. Or else do you have a example showing how the mapping works?

Any more information you could provide would be appreciated.

Hello Jonathan,

We use RAW8 data format when you use 16bit ADC mode, RAW12 when you use 12bit ADC mode and RAW14 for 14bit ADC mode.

The order to the data stored in internal memory is shown in the https://www.ti.com/lit/an/swra555a/swra555a.pdf appnote you have referred to above.

The way that data is packed into the 4 CSI lanes is defined by the MIPI standard. Below is the snapshot from the MIPI spec document that shows how the bytes are split into the various data lanes.
