LDC1314KEYPAD-EVM: LDC1314KEYPAD-EVM

Part Number: LDC1314KEYPAD-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1314, LDCCOILEVM, LDC1101, LDC1614

Hi,

I want to connect LDC1314Keypad - EVM with Sensing Solution EVM GUI to read LDC1314's internal data register.

Is it possible to connect it with Sensing Solution EVM GUI?

Thanks,

Hitesh

  • Hello Hitesh,

The LDC1314KEYPAD-EVM is designed to be a standalone application and does not work with the sensing solutions GUI. If you are interested in a 16 button keypad design where you can see the device data, I recommend checking out the TIDA-01102 reference design which works with the sensing solutions GUI. This one uses a stainless steel sheet instead of snap domes but is still a touch button application.

  • Hi Justin,

Thanks for your response and clarification.

My end target application is to identify 10 types of metal objects among 20-30 things. So, I need to see data or freq. response change with that particular metal to identify the objects hence I need GUI where I can see the change in data.

Do you recommend any EVK which help me to achieve the above POC?

    Thanks,

    Hitesh

  • Hello Hitesh,

For this, I would recommend just starting with one of our LDC device EVMs. If you can guarantee a constant distance between the metal and sensor, then the shift in data can be used to tell the difference in material type with a device like the LDC1314 or LDC1614. However, if this is not the case, you may need to consider a device like the LDC1101 to measure the inductance and Rp to help determine the difference between the metals. All these devices have their own EVM and you can pair it with the LDCCOILEVM if you want to prototype with different coil sizes.
