Hi,

One of product design, requirement for digital inputs sensing, the following TI IC using for sensing,

Part No : TIC12400QDCPRQ1

Requirements :

Input Voltage Range : 0V to 16V DC

DI Type : Active High and Low Signals.

No of channels : 13 No’s

Here is the design circuit, the input resistor R146 value how to select?

Hello Gopala,

The series resistor should be fairly small in value due to voltage drop across associated with the wetting current. If the resistor is too large, the voltage at the INx pin will not be able to cross the detection thresholds.

The series resistor is mainly needed for ESD and transient pulse filtering. The TIC12400-Q1 and TIC10024-Q1 ISO-10605 ESD Test Report discusses the selection of the series resistor and shunt capacitor and the different levels of protection associated with those components.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for your support!. As per your inputs selected a resistor value of RES SMD 47 OHM 5% 1/2W 0805.

It is okay to proceed for design.

Hi Gopala,

Yes, 47 ohms is in the range of resistor values commonly used for the input filters on this device. I would say it is ok to proceed.
