IWR6843AOP: compRangeBiasAndRxChanPhase and other considerations for adjusting radar to function in ABS enclosure

I have the 6843AOP mounted in an ABS enclosure. Adjusting compRangeBiasAndRxChanPhase is the method for compensating for the plastic interfering with the radar signal? Or are there also other calculations/considerations?

When I remove the radar from the enclosure it clearly sees objects but inside the enclosure no objects are appearing in the 3D people counting demo.

Is there a maximum thickness for the enclosure in order for the radar to function?

Looks like ABS plastic at 2mm thickness significantly degrades performance and we’d better cross our fingers and hope that it’s still good enough for 3D people counting or drill a giant hole in the radome.

Hi Robert,

What is the dielectric constant Dk of the ABS plastic being used as the radome ? The Dk can vary from 2- 3.5. The exact value of Dk will help us determining the ideal thickness of radome.
