TS5A22364: [TS5A22364YZPR] Signal input/output THD measurement related inquiries

Part Number: TS5A22364
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5A22362

Hi, TI Support Team

Inquiries were received while the customer was using the following products.

- TS5A22364YZPR

TI Audio Switch.pdf

As shown in the attached data, there is a difference in the THD measurement value of signal input and output.

Please refer to the attached data and advise on the cause of the problem.

Thanks.

Regards,

MJ

  • HI MJ,

There will definitely be a difference in THD on these pins as they are connected to different elements within the device. The most evident is that the COM pins have paths to both the NO and NC pins which means there are going to be more non-linear elements to consider that leads to more harmonic distortion as you saw in your test results (-61dB for the COM pins versus -109dB for the NC pins).

Let me know if you have further questions on this.

    Thanks!

  • Hi, Bryan

Please respond to the customer's additional requests.

    - Recommend a product that outputs (SPK) while maintaining the THD of the input level.

In addition, the above answer does not appear to be included in the datasheet.

    Thanks.

  • Hi MJ,

This part is a little unique in that is has those integrated shunt resistors and typically we only measure THD from a single side of the device (as shown in Fig. 23). For something that may be a better fit here, I would suggest looking into the TS5A22362 which is a very similar device, but does not have those integrated shunt resistors that could be influencing these measurements.

Let me know if that would work.

    Thanks!

    Bryan
