I am having a problem installing my floating license on the FLEX LM server, this is the output I get when it tries to run,
10:31:42 (lmgrd) tidspssw exited with status 128 ()
10:31:42 (lmgrd) Since this is an unknown status, license server
10:31:42 (lmgrd) manager (lmgrd) will attempt to re-start the vendor daemon.
This just repeats over and over again.
What does this error mean?
Hi Mike,
sometimes an error number does not point to the specific cause of an issue unfortunately. What OS system is this and would you be able to confirm you followed these steps:
http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/License_Server_Administration_for_CCS
One thing to check is that the manifest file and vendor daemon exe for tidspssw are in the same location. Any further details would help us.
Best Regards,
Lisa
The host machine is running Microsoft Windows. I have asked the Administrator did he follow the steps and he assures me he did.
I generated the License file on my PC but using the MAC address of the host.
The start of the license file is shown below where xxxxxxxxxxxx is the MAC address of the host but the VENDOR_STRING yyyyyy is my own machine name.
I don't remember adding the VENDOR_STRING
I have tried to regenerate the license file on the site but I don't seem to have that option any more.
Could this be causing the error.

Hi Mike,
it is hard to say but if the license file was played with, it is possible this is the issue. These are signed and encrypted so it is not good to edit them. Is there any way at all you would be able to get a copy of your original license off of www.ti.com/myregisteredsoftware
Also double check the eth0 and correct MAC were used from your server. Is the license server complaining at all about the license? Normally if the MAC is incorrect it will tell you the id does not match.
Again, any further details would help.
Best Regards,
LIsa
Hi Lisa,
I didn't edit the license fie I still have the original as emailed from the TI site and am using that.
It was just that I generated the file while logged in to my workstation using the MAC address of the server.
For some reason it seemed to have picked up my machine name as well and allocate this to the VENDOR_STRING.
Is it possible to get the "generate license option" enabled again on www.ti.com/myregisteredsoftware to make sure I have entered everything correctly.
regards
Mike
Hi Mike,

Hi Mike,
let me see if I can tweak them. Can you send me your license details offline? (my ID is a link for a conversation or friend request). Also would you prefer to see if we can connect via webex?
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
I have installed a Flex_LM license server on my own PC and I now have the license working with the original license I generated (with my MAC address).
There seems to be some issue with the license I generated for our main FLEX_LM server or the installation that the IT department performed has not been completed correctly.
I am happy to leave it this way at the moment as it means I can continue my code development and I have deleted the other license as required by the T&Cs
At some point though we will probably have to regenerate the license for our main server to enable other developers to use the license.
regards
Mike
Hi Mike,
thanks for the update. Yes you would need to rehost/get an updated license if changing MAC addresses.
Glad you are able to proceed and all the best with development.
Best Regards,
Lisa
