System: Toshiba R950, i5-3320 @ 2.6 GHz, 8 GB RAM, Windows 7 Pro SP1.
I updated from CCS 5.3 to CCS 5.5 using the "Help->Check for Updates" updater. After the update, CCS 5.5 seems to work OK.
However, in the Add\Remove Programs (Programs & Features, Win 7 terminology), there are now 2 entries, one for CCS 5.3 and one for CCS 5.5.
----- [Questions] --------------------------------
Is there a utility or instructions to remove the redundant entry?
Is there something that I should have done differently that would have prevented this?
-------------------------------------
The update method from within CCS, "Help->Check for Updates", doesn't offer the opportunity to install into a different folder so it seems to perform an in-place install. So, there should only be one entry in "Programs & Features".
----- [Suggestion] --------------------------------
Further, it might be useful if CCS warned the user similar to this:
"This update will replace the current installation of CCS. If you prefer side-by-side installations, please download the installer directly."
-------------------------------------
Further, I am curious, if I have side-by-side installations, say CCS 5.3 and CCS 5.4, that are installed in unique, non-default directories, they will both show that there is an update available to CCS 5.5.
----- [Questions] --------------------------------
If I choose to update one of them, will the update go into the default CCS directory or will it find the unique directory for that particualar versions installation and update there?
-------------------------------------
Regards,
Jim

This shouldn't have happened and I will see what needs to be done to remove the 5.3 entry.

Noted.

Each installation is going to manage updates independently. If, for example, you update 5.3 your 5.4 and 5.5 installs will not be affected. One exception are any windows device drivers installed to support specific emulators you may be using. Only the latest installed version is going to be used by Windows. I am not aware of any compatibility issues with these drivers though.

On win7, if you attempt to uninstall an application from the control panel add/remove programs action and that program longer exists, windows will ask you if you want to remove the entry from the list.
