BP-CC3351: LE_Transmitter_Test end automatically with no radio transmission

Part Number: BP-CC3351

Tool/software:

Dear TI Sirs:

The CC33XX-LINUX-MPU v1.0.0.5 release on 2024/07/31 has a strange situation after issuing the Standard LE_Transmitter_Test HCI command.

The radio signal observed from Spectrum Analyzer or the LitePoint IQxel test equipment will stop automatically after a period of time. And the btmon did not find any LE_Test_End event.

I ever post some similar situations before on below threads:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/wi-fi-group/wifi/f/wi-fi-forum/1307393/bp-cc3301-ti-c3301-vendor-specific-hci-commands-are-not-fully-working/4975332#4975332

https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/wi-fi-group/wifi/f/wi-fi-forum/1277804/bp-cc3301-cc3301-vs-hci-command-question/4849619#4849619

And I got 1 unofficial release firmware from TI to test after v1.0.0.3, that fix the problem and got the response saying will fixed in the next coming version of the firmware.

However, it is NOT fixed in v1.0.0.4 and the LE_Transmitter_Test will still end with a LE_Test_End HCI command around 38 seconds.

Then I find the v1.0.0.5 is released on 07/31/2024 and tested on this, at this version, by using btmon, after issuing LE_Transmitter_Test command, the LE_Test_End did not show up, but the radio signal is not emitting after a period of time.

We are using this HCI command during the production/verification, do you know when it will fix or do you have any other Vendor Specific HCI command that can emit the BLE radio signal continuously?

  • Hi,

The bug fix should be integrated in the new release FW. (Ill go ahead and test it again as soon as I can). However, when testing you must turn off the calibration routine or else it will mess up the transmission. To do this we added a ble_plt command to the calibrator tool that must be called before running the Test commands.

More information on the calibrator can be found the Linux User Guide in the docs folder

Ill follow up tomorrow with results of my testing.

    Best,

    Rogelio

  • Hi Rogelio:

I can see the command inside calibrator, but there is no document explaination inside the document. I will try, and please also let me know your result and the test command sequence.

  • Hi Rogelio:

I've been tested with our PE, and it works. Thank you for the information.

  • Hi,

Im glad it worked. I unfortunately still havent had time to retest it, but still planning on it so I can document all the steps and get the application note finished.

I am closing the post, but if you have any further questions please reach out.

    Best,

    Rogelio
