LPDDR SDRAM interface to OMAP3530

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530

hi all
 i am working OMAP3530,
i have to interface two LPDDR SDRAM's to SDRC.
there are two Chip selects in SDRC, each can support 512 MB, so the
total supported memory is 1GB.
my questions is..
1)  what type LPDDR SDRAM Addressing supported can be used, for
example ,LF(JEDEC-standard addressing),  L2 (2-die stack standard
addressing), L4 (4-die stack standard addressing), LG(Reduced Page
Size) or R4 (R4 = 4-die stack reduced page-size addressing) ?

thanks and regards

  • Hi babu,

    Which LPDDR SDRAM you are using?

    You dont require to configure type die type and all to SDRC, Configure the RAS,CAS and other timings?

    we have to make finally 1 Gb (1 GByte ) LPDDR SDRAM memory.

    i have attached one data sheet , the part number MT46H256M32L4JV-6 IT is 8gb .

    the page 19 shows 4 dies, 2 CS's, x32, etc...

    is it possible to interface this kind of LPDDR SDRAM to OMAP3530 SDRC and how?

    if not please suggest me which part number LPDDR can be connected, but total memory should be 8Gb.

    thanks and regards

    from the datasheet this DDR can be interfaced with OMAP3530, which can support 512MB per chip select.

    This was your memory interface and you need to configure you SDRAM for two chip selects.

    Each chip select can be configured as

    SDRC total capacity = (215× 212) × 32 = 4 Gbits (or 512 MBytes)

    Here you DDR with Capacity 8Gb or 1GB so you need to configure CS0 and CS1 as below

    RASWIDTH = 15

    CASWIDTH = 12

    RAMSIZE = 256

    so,, it means i can interface 1 chip with capacity of 8Gb LPDDR to SDRC ?

    what type addressing scheme LPDDR can be connected lki R4, LG, LF L2,L4 ?

    if it supports, how do i configure 1 chip of 8Gb LPDDR to two different Chip selects (CS0 and CS1)?

    please suggest me the above part number single chip with 8Gb (MT46H256M32L4JV-6 IT) can be connected or not?

    thanks and Regards

    you have: L4 = 4-die stack standard addressing(mentioned in your data sheet) and you can connect this chip to OMAP35xx

  • hi jethin

    thanks a lot,

    still i have small confusion,

    SDRC has 2 CS options, each CS can support 512MB separately, so the total is 1GB.

    but i am interfacing single 1GB LPDDR to SDRC. which has 2 CS options, x32, etc..

    will it work? the selected  LPDDR SDRAM part number is  MT46H256M32L4JV-6 IT.   please suggest me.i am making final hardware design?

    thanks and regards

    Reddy

  • Yes, it is possible, both are having two CS.

  • hi jethin

    thank u very much....
