ALM2403-Q1: The selection of Power Op Amps for Resolver excitation

Part Number: ALM2403-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALM2402F-Q1

Hi,

We are choosing power op amps for resolver excitation.

The R/D converter is AD2S1210 .

The requirements of power op amp:

1、single power supply : >12V

2、Output current : >200mA

3、With the function of current limit or shutdown (short circuits will occur frequently)

4、Products are industrial applications,The ALM2403-Q1 is OK,but it's always out of stock.

Thanks.

  • Hi Eric,

What is the driving amplitude and excitation frequency in the resolver application?

Based on the current available information, both ALM2402F-Q1 or ALM2403-Q1 will work, but both parts are out of stock currently.

If you are able to provide me the above information, I can ask when either part will be available.

If this is for development, perhaps you may get the EVMs first, see the link below.

If you have additional questions, please let me know.

    Best,

    Raymond

  • Thanks for reply.

The driving amplitude is 3.6Vpp and excitation frequency is 2KHz-12KHz.

We hope to find a product relatively easy to buy, industrial grade.

  • Hi Eric,

    Per your requirements, Vo = 1.8Vpeak and f_excitatation = 12kHz.

ALM2402F-Q1's slew rate is 3.4V/usec and the f_max-frequency = 300kHz. Yes, both ALM2402F-Q1 and ALM2403-Q1 are able to support your resolver driving application. .

The slide below is to show how f_max is derived as an example.

-Q1 means that the part is automotive grade (passed AECQ100 automotive certification), which is good for industrial application as well.

Let me get availability information for you tomorrow, if I am able to get an available date.

If you have additional questions, please let us know.

    Best,

    Raymond

  • Hi Eric,

We may be able to get some ALM2402F-Q1 IC for you (perhaps ALM2403-Q1 also). Could you contact me by entering "friendship" request via E2E forum? Once we establish the private contact, we can exchange for the additional information. Please let us know the volume that you are interested.

Alternatively, you may contact our FAE in your area and we can go that route as well.

I am going to close this inquiry for now. You may still re-open the thread if you have additional questions.

    Best,

    Raymond
