Hello,
We received PCN 20211212000 and we'd like clarification on the terminal finish for the following P/Ns:
THS4531AIDGK (currently has NiPdAuAg terminal finish)
THS4531IDGK (currently has NiPdAuAg terminal finish)
INA826AIDGKR (currently has NiPdAu terminal finish)
Can you please clarify which of the following statements is the correct interpretation of PCN 20211212000?
1. Parts listed in the PCN that originally had NiPdAu finish will be shipped with either NiPdAu or Matte Sn finish, under the standard part number. Those with originally NiPdAuAg finish will be shipped with either NiPdAuAg or Matte Sn finish, under the standard part number. And those with G4 suffix will be NiPdAu finish only.
or
2. All affected parts in the PCN will be shipped with either NiPdAu, NiPdAuAg, or Matte Sn, under the standard part number. And those with G4 suffix will be NiPdAu finish only.
or
3. All affected parts in the PCN will be shipped with NiPdAuAg or Matte Sn under the standard part number and only those with G4 suffix will be NiPdAu finsih.
Additionally, are any of the above P/Ns offered with G4 suffix to specify the NiPdAu terminal finish?
Lastly, what is the coating thickness of each Pd and Au in the NiPdAu terminal finish and the coating thickness of each Pd, Au, and Ag in the NiPdAuAg terminal finish for the parts listed above?
Hello Jasmine,
I am looking into the PCN with our quality and program team, and will get back to you shortly.
Thank you,
Sima
Hello Jasmine,
Thank you for your patience.
The PCN is adding NiPdAu and Matte Sn LF along with existing NiPdAuAg. Therefore, Option 2 is correct:
“All affected parts in the PCN will be shipped with either NiPdAu, NiPdAuAg, or Matte Sn, under the standard part number. And those with G4 suffix will be NiPdAu finish only.”
The devices with G4 suffix (in TI.com website as an alternate part number) will have NiPdAu finish. I did not see a dedicated suffix for these devices. I would need to check this, and get back to you.
Below is the composition of NiPdAu terminal finish:
And, below is the composition of NiPdAuAg terminal finish:

Sima
Hello Jasmine,
The following is additional explanation the suffix:
The “G4 or G3” suffix was created over a decade ago, when the Rohs / Green compliance initiative was in works. Devices were marked with an environmental code based on the level of “green” they met. This level was determined by many factors, including the BOM.
After all of TI went completely green, we discontinued the “G4/G3” marking, as all devices then met all of the “green” environmental requirements. The Alternate part numbers with the “G4/G3” marking were left as an orderable part number for customers that had already purchased/qualified devices orderables that had the “G3/G4” suffix. This was to allow the to continue to order the part that they qualified and not have to update their BOM with a new part number.
We will not be adding any additional parts with G4 suffix.
At the moment, the listed affected devices are Rohs/green compliant and the shipped devices will be either lead finishes: NiPdAu, NiPdAuAg, or Matte Sn, under the standard part number.
Thank you,
Sima
Hi Sima,
Thank you clarifying the interpretation of the PCN. How can we identify which terminal finish is sent? If I provide PO# for certain list of parts, can you confirm the terminal finish of each stock?
Additionally, we need the coating thickness (in microns or microinches) of each Pd and Au in the NiPdAu terminal finish and the coating thickness of each Pd, Au, and Ag in the NiPdAuAg terminal finish for the parts listed above. The snippets that you provided do not have this information.
Thanks,
Jasmine
Hello Jasmine,
I have sent you a friend request for private discussion. Can you provide the PO# via private messaging?
I am unsure if we can share the coating thickness, but I will ask our quality team, and get back to you.
Thank you,
Sima
Hi Sima,
Thanks, I will send you the details via private messaging.
Please let me know what you are able to get from your Quality team regarding the coating thicknesses.
Thanks,
Jasmine
