OPA828: Stabilized Input Capacitance

Part Number: OPA828
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA1641,

I went through the OPA828 datasheet and could not find anything regarding stable input capacitance like there is for the OPA1641. Do you know if the JFETS were built using the DI process used in the OPA1641?  Or is there some other technique used to stabilize the input capacitance? Maybe the input capacitance is not stabilized? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Regards,

Courtenay Osborne

  • Hi Courtenay,

OPA1641 and OPA828 input JFET's are actually built on the same Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) process, which is similar to dielectrically isolated (DI) wafer process (see below).  Thus, the stability of the input capacitance should be the comparable.

  • Marek, thanks for your response. It was quite helpful. I would suggest adding the stabilized input capacitance feature to the datasheet. It would be helpful to designers who would like to use the OPA828 in high input impedance applications.
