LM2903: Output response by using as comparator

Part Number: LM2903
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI, , LM339,

Hello,

We are going to use this IC as Schmit trigger comparator.

As this is open collector, what will be the output response (Logic High/Low) if +ve input is more than -ve input?

Any simulation model available?

What will be the cost by considering 30K nos of annual purchase?

Regards,

Sudharshana

  • When IN+ is higher than IN− (and both are inside the input voltage range), then the output is Hi-Z. If there is a pull-up resistor, then the line will be high.

Models for PSpice and TINA-TI can be found on the product page, under "Design & development" / "Design tools & simulation".

  • Hello Sudharshana,

See the applications section of the LM2903 datasheet, section 8.2.2.1:

As for any questions about the output, please see section 4.1 of the LM339 family application note.

Application Design Guidelines for LM339, LM393, TL331 Family Comparators

As Clemens stated, the models are in the product folder. Sometimes the tab is hidden so you have to select it.

We do NOT discuss pricing on the forums. You will have to take up any pricing issues with your distributor. But I will warn you, the LM2903 is a huge volume device (100's million per year) with lots of competitive pricing pressure, so the prices are about as low as they can get. You may want to consider the LM2903B for better pricing.
