INA381-Q1: Recommended operating voltage for Comparator reference

Part Number: INA381-Q1

Hello TI,

I am looking for some information related to INA381-Q1. I would like to know the maximum or recommended operating voltage of comperator reference (CMPREF) pin. I could see absolute maximum rating specification for the same but i assume that is the safety limit which we should avoid reaching. So could you please share me the recommended operating voltage for CMPREF over the full operating temperature range of the device ?

Best Regards,

Manoj.

  • Hello Manoj,

You are correct that this is not specified directly in the datasheet, but it can be implied from the amplifier output swing. For the INA381-Q1 the output swing is Vs - 0.05V to VGND +0.005V. This voltage is intended to be connected directly to the comparator, so it is certainly within the input voltage range of the comparator:

I am going to check with the team to see if we have any data for the input range of this device next week, so hopefully I can find a more definitive answer for this part.

Let me know if you have any more questions,

  • Hi Levi,

Did you get a chance to check with your team regarding my request ?

    Regards,

    Manoj.

  • Manoj,

I checked with the team and confirmed that the device should operate up to the voltage swing level of the part, so GND+0.0005V to Vs-0.02V. Above this range the comparator can still be used without risk of damaging the device, but we can no longer guarantee the ±5mV offset behavior.

  • Hello Levi,

I'm still not sure if you got my question regarding the maxium recommended voltage for CMPREF-Pin right. It seems to me the answer still refers only to the CMPIN-Pin and not the CMPREF-Pin. I understand that internally CMPIN and CMPREF are connected to the same internal opamp, but explicit information for the CMPREF-Pin would be good.

    Also,

I am looking for leakage current information for CMPREF-Pin which is not available in the datasheet. It would be good if you can share this information across full operating temperature range of the device(i.e. min,typ and max values).

    Thanks!

    Manoj.

  • Hello Manoj,

What I said applies to the CMPREF pin as well as the CMPIN.

This thread also covers this question, the input impedance for the CMPREF pin measures in the hundreds of MΩ. Additionally although we do not specify this value on the datasheet, the current leakage should always be less than ±1µA and is generally less than 0.1µA.
