OPA172: AC-couple transimpedance amplifier circuit

Part Number: OPA172
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PSPICE-FOR-TI, TINA-TI

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am currently trying to build this circuit in LTSpice: AC-coupled transimpedance amplifier circuit (ti.com)

This is my current circuit along with its input and output signal.

I am fairly new to LTSpice so I am not sure if I have the write command line or what other issues are present, but my goal is to simply replicate the TI circuit and be able to see the same outputs.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated thanks!

  • Hello,

Thanks for posting on e2e, are you planning on using the AD549?

    All the best,
    Carolina

  • I am trying to replicate the model but I do not have the U3 OPA172, so I substituted with the AD549. My end goal is to simply recreate this model and see the outputs match what is in the link.

  • Hey Travis,

ADI has in its user agreement that other semiconductor companies cannot use their software, LTSpice. That being said I found the following tutorial online and recommend removing the volt meters and adding a current meter on AM1 and AM2: Microsoft PowerPoint - LTspiceGettingStartedGuide.ppt [Compatibility Mode] (analog.com) Additionally, the OPA172 netlist model can be found in the PSpice for TI download, this may be imported to LTSpice using 3rd party import.

As TI, we support TINA-TI and PSpice-for-TI, I have built the circuit in TINA-TI and can build it in PSpice-for-TI if you are more comfortable in the Cadence environment. Here is the file: OPA172_TIA.TSC
If you aren't familiar with TINA, I have written down the steps for how recreate all the graphs.

I will also update the circuit design so that the file is included in the document.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or if you need newer part alternatives.

    All the best,
    Carolina
