INA226EVM: Installation failed

Part Number: INA226EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA226, USB2ANY

Tool/software:

Hi  Teams

I need to use the INA226 EVM.
According to the description on TI's official website, I have downloaded the driver and GUI.

https://dr-download.ti.com/secure/software-development/support-software/MD-seBqV4p5Vf/4.2.0.0/PAMB_USB_Driver_Installer-v4.2.0.0.exe

https://dev.ti.com/gallery/info/CurrentSensing/

After installing the driver and GUI, the USB device is still not recognized. Could you please help confirm what the issue might be?

  • Hello Sky,

From the photo you sent me, it looks like your EVM may be in DFU mode. This means that it should be ready for a firmware update. From the GUI (https://dev.ti.com/gallery/info/CurrentSensing/INA226EVM_GUI), got to File -> program device...

Our EVM does not use USB2ANY, so you'll need to use the GUI linked above.

If you have any issues programming the device, then you may need to manually associate the driver for DFU mode, here are some instructions to help with that:

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/amplifiers-group/amplifiers/f/amplifiers-forum/1394766/ina226evm-unrecognized-evm

It's possible that you may need to manually associate the serial and bulk drivers as well. The link above also links to another e2e thread that shows how to associate the drivers.

    Regards,

    Mitch

  • Hi Mitch

Thank you for your assistance. I am now able to operate the device. However, I encounter two issues during use:

    1. I cannot open the GUI properly. Each time I need to reinstall the software, and only after the installation automatically opens the GUI can I access it successfully.
    2. If the GUI is not closed, unplugging the USB or switching between different INA226 control boards causes a connection failure. I need to close the GUI to reconnect successfully. However, closing the GUI brings me back to issue 1, where I cannot reopen the GUI properly.
  • Sky,

    Thank you for your patience.

Due to the U.S. holidays, Mitch is currently out of the office and will reply when he returns on 1/6.
