INA214-Q1: INA214-Q1 FMEDA data

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA214

Hi team,

My customer is using INA214AQDCKRQ1 in their design for automotive application, and they are looking for FMEDA document for INA214AQDCKRQ1 to make functional safety analysis.

Do we have such FMEDA/FMDA document for the analog device?

Many thanks.

Best Regards,

Wei-Hao

  • Hello  Wei-Hao,

Thanks for reaching out on the forum.  I am not sure what you mean be a FMEDA.  Can you elaborate more about what exactly you are expecting to see in what I presume is a failure report?  Also has any other product line supplied you with such a report for their devices?  Perhaps if they have, you can send me a copy through email, so I have an idea of what to look for.

One  item that might be relevant is our  Mean Time Between Fails (MTBF) and Failures in Time (FIT)  estimator.  This can be found here: www.ti.com/.../estimator.tsp

  • Hi Patrick,

Some of our product are designated for SafeTI products that offers the failure mode effects and diagnostic analysis (FMEDA) document for ASIL systematic capability. More details please refer to this link: www.ti.com/.../SafeTI-26262.html

It appears to me it is more relevant MCU or processors so I was not sure if INA current shunt family did any kind of failure mode analysis for functional safety purpose? Like covering how does IC in response to certain pin is open/short?

And sorry I do not have an example in hands right now, let me reach another FAE and I will send you a copy of the FMEDA document as an example.

    Much appreciated.

    Best Regards,
    Wei-Hao
  • Hello Wei-Hao,

Thanks for providing that information, I now have a better understanding of what you need. Until recently we have not typically done any pin to pin open/short analysis for our devices. Consequently as the INA214 is a relatively old device, we do not currently have a report for that device available. Additionally as it is an older part you may need to escalate your case to get the design, applications, and statistical analyst resources allocated for generating that report. In the interim, I will check with my direct management to see what we can do for you.
  • Hi Patrick,

Thanks for checking that for us. We may have more detailed discussion regarding this topic.
