Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2903
Hi Team,
May I ask the input current limit of LM2903AVQPWRQ1 and LM2901QDRQ1, the absolute maximum rating? I cannot find it in the datasheet.
Thanks.
Best Regards,
Livia

Hello Yazhu,
The Q1 die is mostly the same as the commercial, so the -50mA Clemens showed is most likely valid.
Since it is not stated in the datasheet, we cannot warranty a value.
I personally think -50mA is a bit high and that would push it into malfunction territory. The original -Q1 authors probably thought the same thing...
The "B" version has a -20mA Abs Max specification, and that is more in-line with what I would expect.
So I would use -20mA as "Engineering Guidance" for the non-B Q1.
If a specified value is desired, then the "B" version (which is an upgrade) should be used.
Hi Paul,
Understand. Thank you for the detailed info.

Hi Yazhu,
if negative input voltages can frequently arrive the LM2903, I would clamp the input voltage by the help of this circuit:
This circuit is explained in detail in this very nice application report written by Paul Grohe himself:
