I found several tubes of one of your parts. I can't identify the part number

Hi

I have some DIP parts marked with "844 N X" and "730038" and the TI logo. It is an 8 pin DIP part. There are no other markings on this part. I found these in my inventory and don't know what they are or when I got them. Any help is appreciated.

  • Hello Jian,

You can use the Part Marking Lookup tool: www.ti.com/packaging/docs/partlookup.tsp#divline , and searching 844 brings up many devices, but none of then indicate the stand-alone 844 marking.  Also, you said these are 8-pin DIP devices, the picture you provided is not a DIP device.  As well, the picture shows 848, not 844 as you wrote.  Regardless, no results with either 844 or 848.

It is very possible these are custom devices, therefore no information could be disclosed to other than the original purchaser.

You also said these are in tubes; are there any labels on the tubes?

    Regards,

    ~Leonard

  • It WAS an 8 pin DIP, but I cut off the leads so I wouldn't poke holes in my scanner cover. Sorry for the confusion it may have caused.

  • Hi Jian,

I asked if there was any label on the tubes.  If so, please show a picture, or describe.

    Thanks,

    ~Leonard

  • Hi Leonard,

There is no any label on the tubes from customer side. There is no way customer could find out what the original datasheet for the part was. If there is no way to identify what the part is, then what should customer do with these parts?  customer don't really want to throw them out since customer expect they are still usable. customer don't know what they are for or know who the original purchaser is. Customer's reason for this question is to prevent the waste of what I expect are usable parts, he don't want to add to the electronic waste this country produces.

  • Hello Jian,

We have searched through archives and have come up empty for this device.  We will continue to look.  In the event we find a reference that can be shared, I will update this thread.  As previously mentioned, it may be a custom device, in which case we could not divulge that information.

    Regards,

    ~Leonard

  • Hi Leonard,

    Any update for this post?

  • Hello Jian,

The only information we could relate to this device is that it may be a Comlinear CLC730038, and as I understand, this was a National device that was sold to Comlinear 20+ years ago.  There is no guarantee that the parts you have are indeed these, but this was an 8-pin device, the marking matches the number portion of the designation.

Unless you have specific products that use this device, I don't know what else you could do with them other than deposit them at an environmentally responsible depository.

    Regards,

    ~Leonard
