XTR117: Opamp input from shunt resistor.

Part Number: XTR117

Hi,

For XTR117, I will use 250R shunt resistor.
I will read 1-5 V. on the resistor.
There are two methods for this.
What should I use?
method 1: voltage follower

method 2: instrumentation amplifier

What can you suggest?
Regards,
  • Hi Bekir,

XTR117 is 2-Wire Transmitter,  which the I_RET pin has to allow float with respect to the loop supply ground, see the attached image below. It is likely that you have to use instrumentation amplifier, depending on your application. Enclosed is 2-wire and 3-wire application notes about 4-20mA transmitters.
