LMH1983: VCXO selection

Part Number: LMH1983

Dear Technical Support Team,

There is following VCXO on my board.

DSV321SV-27.000MHz

Datasheet recommendation is 357LB3C027M0000 and described two spec.

On the other hand, DSV321SV&s specification doesn&t have APR.

①Frequency Tolerance: ±40x10^-6 Max

②Frequency Adjustment Range: ±100×10^-6 min. [Positive Slope]

Q1. Does ① or ② correspond to APR (Absolute pull range)?

Q2. The following E2E below seems to care about Phase noise by bandwidth when selecting.
DSV321SV has phase jitter defined, but I do not see how it relates to bandwidth bandwidth Phase noise.
It also stated that A higher APR should not cause an issue.
Can you please advise in general terms as well?

  • Hi ttd,

    (2) is the APR, 100ppm, which is good. Most VCXO has 100ppm APR.

We can calculate jitter from phase noise but not the other way round. Jitter spec does not contain useful information. We need phase noise data to determine if the VCXO is good.
