LMX2592: Efficiency of using on board oscillator of 100 MHz

Part Number: LMX2592
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK61E2, TIDA-00626

respected,

i have been working on reference design TIDA-00626. which consist of on board oscillator option as well as LMK61e2 option. i have by passed the resistors to disconnect LMK61e2 from the board and prefer using the fixed frequency oscillator. what will be the efficiency of using on board oscillator rather than using LMK61E2. also how we can test that whether we are getting 100 MHz signal from the oscillator pin. can it be tested on DSO or spectrum analyser.

  • Hi Pratik,

If you need a 100MHz reference clock, use the XO. If you need a 156.25MHz reference clock, use the LMK61e2. In both cases, you don't need to do any programming to the reference clock.
If you need other frequency, program LMK61e2.

To test the output of the reference clock, use a scope with good grounding probe.
