WEBENCH® Tools/CDCE62002: VCO Gain setting of CDCE62002

Part Number: CDCE62002
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE62005,

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

What should I set to VCO Gain?  I can not find the specification of VCO gain in the datasheet.

The default setting is 44.1667MHz/V. Is it correct setting ?

Bset regards

  • Hi,

I don't see the number in the datasheet, but I think it might reasonable. I did not see a VCO gain number in the datasheet, but I think from section 9.3.5.7.1 "VCO Select", they give a Fmin and Fmax for each VCO band and it looks like about 300 MHz tuning range. So you might think 300/3V ~ 100 MHz, but there could be sub-bands within each of these as they do mention a VCO calibration.

Clock architect calculates the VCO gain information from the band, so most likely this is right.

  • Hi,

VCO gain of CDCE62005 I can find in the application report is 70MHz/V.(Refer to 1.Background.)

Both of VCO ranges(CDCE62002 & CDCE62005) are same range. So I think VCO gain of CDCE62002 is also 70MHz/V.

I am setting 70MHz/V to VCO gain on the WEBENCH tool. Thanks!
