Jitter cleaner recommendation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2594, LMK04228, LMK04828, LMK04832, LMK03806, CDCE62002, CDCM7005

Hello,

Input reference clock is 10MHz. The reference clock is not clean so I want to clean then to use as LMX2594 reference clock.

The number of channel of jitter cleaner is 1 or 2 enough.

Would you give me a recommended device?

I want to simulate phase noise. If PLLatinum supports the device, it would be helpful.

Best regards,

Toshihiro Watanabe

  • Hi Toshihiro,

Thanks for posting on E2E. I have assigned your post to the responsible engineer. He will respond to you soon.

  • Hello Watanabe-san,

The LMK04228, LMK04828, and LMK04832 are all high performance solutions which can be used as 10MHz jitter cleaners. Each of these devices has an OSCout output, which generates a buffered copy of the jitter cleaner VCXO input. If the VCXO frequency is usable for the input to the LMX2594, the OSCout of the LMK device can be directly connected to the OSCin of the LMX device. Otherwise, the LMK devices include a cascaded PLL2 for frequency multiplication.

The LMK03806 could also be used as a jitter cleaner, with an integrated VCO instead of an external VCXO. Consequently the phase noise performance may be slightly worse, but no external VCXO would be required (which could save some cost).

The LMK04228 and LMK04828 can be simulated in PLLatinumSim with the LMK04828B profile, and the LMK04832 and LMK03806 have their own profiles. There are a few other low cost options such as CDCM7005 or CDCE62002, but the performance is worse (>300fs 12k to 20M) and these devices are not supported in PLLatinumSim.

    Regards,
