TS3DV642: Application of TS3DV642

Part Number: TS3DV642

Hi TI Teams,

The notebook project, SOC has only one DP interface, but the output has two TYPE-C ports and both of them need to support DP protocol. Can we use TS3DV642 to achieve this?

If yes, I also have the follow questions:

1) The two TYPE-C ports, respectively defined as C1 and C2. When one of them was connected, whether the insert detection logic was completed in TS3DV642 chip without the SOC participation?

2) What information does the I2C of TS3DV642 need to communicate with?

Thanks,

Kind Regards

  • Hi,

Please see this simplified block diagram.

TS3DV642 will not able to support the Type-C normal and flip orientation, this will have to be done by the TUSB546 or TUSB1046.

For Type-C, you also need PD controller to negotiated DP Alt Mode over Type-C.

The SOC, base on the PD controller negotiation, need to drive TS3DV642 SEL1 and SEL2 when one of them is connected. But it also needs to determine the priority if both are connected.

    Thanks

  • Hi David,

Thanks a lot. But we still have one question about the voltage level of the PHD, we want to know the level is high, low, or high resistance when the switch is off ?

The circuit design of HPD terminal is as follows:

    Thanks,

    Kind Regards

  • Hi,

When switch is disabled (EN = L), all channels are in Hi-Z state.

    Thanks
