Hello,

I am working on the HUB design with 2x USB 3.X and 1x HDMI outputs.

I selected the TUSB8044 for HUB (even there are 4x USB3x).

Also, I need to find solution - adaptor which will provide from USB-C Host (PC/Laptop) the DC coupled HDMI output.

We will be using the single LCD HDMI TFT module, V1.4, resolution 1280 x 800 (DC coupled).

Do you have a solution for this design - the USB-C to HDMI will be on same PCB like HUB.

Is the TUSB1064 & TDP0604 right choice?

You will want to use TUSB1064 to de-mux the USB-C into USB and DP. The USB will then be connected to the TUSB8044A upstream port. The DP will be connected to a DP to HDMI active protocol converter such as Parade PS186 for the HDMI output. TDP0604 will not able to support DP to HDMI active protocol conversion.

Hi David,

Thank you a lot for the fast answer. The PS186 is exactly what I would need. But unfortunately, there is no availability on the USA market.

Could you please suggest also another parts from different manufacturer that I could use for the design (possibly with reference design or Eval boards).

The ITE Tech also has a solution, the part number is IT6563.

Hi David,

Thank you so much for another option (IT6563).

The problem is I do not see any availability here in US. And also, I would like to get some tech. support and the Evaluation board before I finish my schematic.

Do you know are there any US manufacturers for such devices like PS186 or IT6563?

I would really appreciate if you can help me with this one, please.

Hi David,

I appreciate your search. I have the same problem - did not find solution there.

But I have a question. The TI device SN65DP159 is showing on page 44 (Figure 32) the Dongle application between Display mode and HDMI. This one can not be used - like connecting the TUSB1064 to SN65DP159 to HDMI?

DP159 is a dual-mode DisplayPort (DP++) to HDMI passive level shifter. For DP to HDMI, you would need an active DP to HDMI protocol converter which DP159 can't support.
