DS16EV5110A: interface with TFP401A-EP

Part Number: DS16EV5110A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP401A, TFP401, DS16EV5110,

Hi:

Can 5110A interface with TFP401A ,while 5110A as driver and TFP401A as receiver,DC couple interface with each other? thanks

  • Hi Lin,

Yes you can DC couple output of DS16EV5110A to input of TFP401A. DS16EV5110 expects 50-ohm termination to 3.3V and TFP401 provides this termination.

  • thanks for your reply,TFP401’s 99 pin(RSVD)need to be connected to vcc or unconnected, thanks again
  • Greetings,

This pin needs to be tied high.

  • thanks a lot,I used the 5110A as a transmitter and connect it via cable to the 401 as receiver,I found that the output of 5110 had 1.2V voltage when it was not connected with a terminal load!that means, when the transmitter is powered up and the receiver 401 is not powered, the 401 power rail will have voltage.
Therefore,I have following questions:Is the output of the 5110A a real OC gate? If yes, then such behavor from 5110A is against the DVI interface standard?for this product 5110a power on first, then 401 board power on,and 401 board have device which have power-on sequence requre ,thus leed to the device can not satisfy requrement,Is there any solution?
  • Hi Lin,

Outputs of DS16EV5110A are indeed open collector outputs - as noted in the data sheet. You can check this - first disconnect your HDMI cable -  by externally pulling up - through a 50-ohm resistor - to 3.3V supply and then put your scope probe to monitor output being raised to 3.3V. However I cannot say where 1.2V supply is coming from.
