DS90UB949-Q1: Stability Issue link video FPD-LINK III

Part Number: DS90UB949-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ALP

Hi,

I contact you because we are experiencing a curious problem in the use of the FPD-LINKIII link, in particular in the combination:

• DS90UB949TRGCTQ1 serializer
• DS90UB948TNKDRQ1 deserializer

The link is configured to work dual-lane.
In particular, we see that by connecting them together with a wiring of less than 30 cm in length, a transient occurs in which the video sent to the screen flickers and sometimes even disappears, and then stabilizes and no longer manifests the phenomenon. Using cables of longer length we never find the problem.

From a first analysis we see that the deserializer does not indicate an unlock of the video link and also electrically the link seems to operate in the correct operating parameters.
We would therefore like to have your support to understand what the causes of this behavior may be, and how to correctly direct the analysis.
For example:

• is there a length limit under which the link may not work properly?
• could the "transient" we see be due to the automatic channel equalization? In this case, in our system the registers that govern it are set to the default values. Could it be necessary to set them differently?

This problem affects products in production.

Please also write me in private if needed.

Thank you again for your availability and support.
Many Thanks,

Antonio F.

  • Hi Antonio,

Could you run Margin Analysis Tool using our ALP? This should tell us the margin we have on the link and the suitable EQ values.

We may need a little more understand of the cable you are using.  Please send me an email if it is confidential.

    Best Regards,

    Charley Cai

  • Hi Charles,

Ok thanks. Customer is carrying out the analysis and we will share the results of the same with your indications as soon as possible.

The cable is a 36 cm long HSD-to-HSD from Rosenberger with a characteristic impedance of 100 Ohm. I hope it can help you.

    Thanks again,

    Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

Do you have a cable type? For example Dacar 535 or something else.

    Best Regards,
