TXB0108: TXB0108PWR alternative for high capacitive load(over 70pF)

Part Number: TXB0108
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXU0104, SN74AHCT541, SN74LV541AT, SN74LV244AT, SN74AHCT244

Hello

I am currently using this level shifter to translate 3.3V(input) to 5V(output). However, we having issues on the output behaviour which due to capacitive load higher than the mentioned in the datasheet

I copy the output load consideration section from the datasheet.

"The O.S. circuits have been designed to stay on for approximately 10 ns. The maximum capacitance of the lumped load that can be driven also depends directly on the one-shot duration. With very heavy capacitive loads

he one-shot can time-out before the signal is driven fully to the positive rail."

And I can observe from scope as below,

As you can see the output is not able to reach 5V rail.

We do not intend to change our load. Can you propose another type of level shifter that can support the below:

1. 3.3V(input from MCU,acting as master) to 5V(output load,acting as slave)
2. We only need unidirectional level shifter, bidirectional is not required.
3. the output of the level shifter is connected to SPI-alike protocol, but only using CLK and MOSI pin only , with 2MHz Frequency
4. We can slow down our communication frequency in the range of KHz range due to high rise time of our load
5. with the same number of circuit as the TXB0108(8xinput vs 8 output) if possible.

Thanks in advance for your reply and support

  • For unidirectional signals, use a unidirection translator like the TXU0104.

    For translation from 3.3 V to 5 V, you can also use a buffer with TTL-compatible inputs, e.g., SN74AHCT244/SN74LV244AT/SN74AHCT541/SN74LV541AT.
