Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-GANG, MSP430F4152, MSP-TS430PM64A

Hi,

The GUI display "ERROR 23: MCU device init" when I used MSP-GANG download code into msp430f4152 by SBW, but JTAG no promblem !

Anybody know why? thanks、、、、

Possibly you have too much parasitic capacitance on the JTAG cable. On 4-wire JTAG, this is no problem, but on SBW, too much capacitance will shift the signal timing too much for a reliable communication.
Especially if you have a capacitor on the RST pin, i tmight block SBW. The specs say 2.2nF max. If you have a series resistor between the capacitor and the RST pion/JTAG signal, you can use a larger capacitance (better for a stable startup on switching power supplies)

Thanks very much, I forgot to check it , I will check it. thanks..

  • Are you using one of the TI target boards, or a custom board that you made yourself?

If you are using a TI board like the MSP-TS430PM64A, make sure that the jumpers are in the position for SBW mode instead of JTAG.

If you are using a custom board, you may want to post your programming connections.
