Hi Team,
I would like to have both SBW & UART BSL in header pinout, can anyone share with me the UART BSL connection?
I found the figure for SBW, but I am not sure if UART BSL also requires TCK attaches to SBWTCK and TDO/TDI attaches to SBWTDIO.
Hi Gary,
Yes, I know TEST & RESET is for BSL invocation. But my customer plans to use MSP-GANG, I want to know which two pins on MSP-GANG are connected to MSP430 TEST & RESET pins.
In my previous post you can see it's TEST & TCK connects to SBWTCK and TDI/TDO connects to SBWTDIO. Do you have simiar figure that specifies BSL connection clearly?
Hi Jo
It is the same with the MPS-FET that test pin is PIN8 and the reset pin is PIN11. You can connect the PIN11 and PIN1 on customer's board. And PIN8 and PIN7 as the connection you post first picture. I have test on my side and that works.(I use the msp430fr2433 launchpad don't have the 330ohm)
Best regards
Gary
Gary already correctly answered to your question, with table related to MSP-GANG connector. Maybe, to be more clear you can read this topic...

Hi Gary,
From my test result, below combinations are all workable for UART BSL.
(MSP-GANG side)
1. TCK(7) + RESET(11)
2. TEST(8) + RESET(11)
Unlike the Figure 2-2, TDI/TDO(1) is useless here.
That brings my curiosity, so I tried another combination for SBW.
Below combination won't work for SBW.
1. RESET(11) + TCK(7)
2. RESET(11) + TEST(8)
In summary,
That can be a problem, because my customer want both SBW & UART BSL, can we short pin 1 & pin 11 together?
Thanks.
Hi Jo
What I mentioned before "You can connect the PIN11 and PIN1 on customer's board. And PIN8 and PIN7 as the connection you post first picture." is to short the PIN 1 and PIN11, PIN8 and PIN7. That is works from my side. But due to I don't have the schematic details about MSP-GANG so I don't know if any risk there. I can help ask my team to make it more clear.
Best regards
Gary
Hi Gary,
I think you're right the pin 1 & pin 11 can short together, at least I did it on my gang programmer without error so far. Thanks again.
Jo
