Good day all,
I have recently designed a PCB board around that has the MSP430FR5739 chip, and I am trying to program the personalize PCB with a msp-exp430g2 launchpad emulator, but everytime I try load a simple code which blinks one LED to the emulator it responds as with the below error message:
[ MSP430: Error connecting to the target: Could not find device (or device not supported) ]
I have connected the SBW (Spy-Bi-Wire) configuration from the emulator (TEST, RST, GND & Vcc) to the personalized PCB (MSP430FR5739) corresponding pins, yet I still encounter the same error message on my CCSv6.1.1.
Could someone assist me regarding this? is there something that I'm missing on this matter?
Regards,
Lubabalo
Hi Lubabalo!
The MSP-EXP430G2 LaunchPad is not supposed to program this type of processor. Some combinations work, although it is not officially supported, but in most cases it does not...as you just experienced yourself. You need at least a LaunchPad that contains an eZ-FET lite.

Hi Dennis,
So could I maybe use the emulator of the MSP-EXP430FR5739 launchpad, to try and program my personalized PCB, and connect it in the same manner of Spy-Bi-Wire (Test, RST, GND & Vcc)??
Or do I have to load the Bootloader (BSL) program on the MSP430FR5739 uC which is on my personalized PCB??
Regards,
Lubabalo
