CCS: MSP-FET / eZ-FET legacy module update failed

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FR6989, MSP-FET, ENERGIA

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I have been working on the MSP430FR6989 Launchpad device since las few months and everything was Ok.Suddenly, i get this message.

MSP430: Error initializing emulator: A firmware update is required for the MSP430 Debug Interface (MSP-FET430UIF / MSP-FET / eZ-FET). Click the "Update" button to update the firmware and launch your debug session (this may require several update steps).  DO NOT UNPLUG THE INTERFACE

When i click on update, i get this message

MSP430: Error: MSP-FET / eZ-FET legacy module update failed

I tried again, but the result was same.I thoght that i might have damaged the Hardware, but i am able to detect the MSp430 UART interface & The MSP430 Debug interface on my PC.

when i connect the Power to the board, the on board LCD flashes on and then immediately goes off. This happens on every power cycle.

please suggest what is the problem & how to overcome it...

  • Hi Punit,

  • Hi Punit,

Did the above suggestion solve your issue?

  • Sorry, i was on leave so could not reply.

The above links did not solve the problem. What i did was that i tried to upload a sketch with energia on the same board.Energia was some how able to update the MSP debug firmware. Then i did the same thing with CCS V6 on the same board, and to my surprise, the update was successful and now i am able to use the board.

But i still dont understand the real issue behind this...if any one can figure out the problem, it wail help many...
  • Hi Punit,

Unfortunately I don't have an explanation for why that solved your issue. I'll look into it further but for now I'm closing this thread. I'm glad you were able to solve the issue.
