Hello everyone,
The MSP-FET430UIF tool may have some issues when multiple instances are plugged into the same computer. Below is a description of this issue, as well as a work around to get you up and running.
- Description of the issue:
- After connecting (enumerating) a new USB device while working with the MSP-FET430UIF, IAR or CCS reports an error, and it is not possible to connect to the UIF. Your IDE will report a malfunction, and an error popup window will show.
- How can I detect this issue:
- There is no easy way to find the issue without special software (e.g. USB Viewer). The issue is encountered if two MSP-FET430UIF tools are connected to USB ports of the same root hub. A typical PC has several few hubs, with each hub having a few USB ports. In many cases, USB ports of one root hub are normally located on one side of a notebook laptop. USB ports on the opposite side are connected to another root hub.
- How can I work around this issue?
- Try to separate the two MSP-FET430UIF tools into separate USB root hubs (opposite sides of your laptop or desktop).
- Replug one MSP-FET430UIF tool on one side, then plug the second tool on the opposite side.
- At this point, each IDE should recognize the separate MSP-FET430UIF tools. A restart of your IDE maybe required.
- Possible root cause of this issue?
- Bug in the driver of the TUSB3410. This has been reported to the TUSB3410 team, and an updated driver is in the works.
Thanks, and look forward to a solution in the future.
