  • Hi Hank,

It sounds strange for your issue. But could you give me more information about your issue to help to analyze the root cause.

    1. what is the failure rate about your issue? which stage of the production occurs the issue, design stage/PP/MP or released to end user for some duration?

    2. Did you check the VCC power supply of MSP430 device to check whether the power is stable when the issue occurs?

    3. The issue occurs always or sometimes? Did some event trigger this issue or some event could let the issue go away?

    4. Did you disassemble the MSP430 device from issue board and assemble it to a good board and check if the issue goes with MSP430 or the board? This could be called A-B-A test.

    5. Did you check the SYSRSTIV register after an reset occurs to confirm the reset source. The value of this register could be found on Table 6-11. System Module Interrupt Vector Registers of the Device Datasheet.

    6. I took a quick look at your schematic and found the circuit of RST/NMI pin didn't follow the device User's Guide, which should be a 47-kΩ pullup resistor and 2.2 nF pulldown capacitor. You could find this on the Table 1-3. Connection of Unused Pins of the device User's Guide.
