I have just got the MSP-FET and tried to connect it to the MSP432P401R Launchpad.
I disconnected the jumpers of the TMS TCK TDI TDO from the LAUNCHPAD and connected the TCK and TMS from the MSP-FET to the TCK and TMS of the MSP432P402 side of the jumpers.
First I tried to connect the MSP-FET, I didn't see any MSP-FET option on the Connection option in project properties.
I selected the TI MSP430 USB1 option, the IDE started to update firmware and the system went into endless tries to update the firmware.
Now when I connect the USB cable to the MSP, i don't see any new devices in the PC Device manager under USB controllers.
is there a way to recover? how do i connect the MSP-FET to my target, do I need any intermediate board or can i just connect the GND and the TMS, TCK signal (this is what i did when i debugged my target using the LAUNCHPED XDS debbuger)
please advise,
shai.
Hi Shai,
The MSP432P401R launchpad (https://www.ti.com/tool/MSP-EXP432P401R) comes with a built-in ezFET. You don't need the external MSP-FET. You can see section 2.3 "XDS110-ET Onboard Debug Probe" of the Launchpad user's guide (https://www.ti.com/lit/slau597). You just need to connect the USB cable from the PC into the USB connector on the board.
Srinivas
Thanks.
I didn't explain myself well.
when I said I'm using the launchpad, i meant that I'm using the LAUNCHPAD as a debugger for my own MSP board. I simply disconnected the TMS and the TCK signals from the jumpers and connected them to my target.
Anyway I manage to find the problem with the MSP-FET. I had to connect the VCC_TARGET to my target MCU_VCC. now it is working.
thank you.
Shai.
