PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62X: Upstream support to PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62X
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA829

Hi Support Team,

Does the Linux SDK for AM62x and DRA829  support Upstream?
You can reply not only about the SDK for DRA829 and AM62x,
but also about the Linux SDK provided by TI in general.

I feel that Upstream is not supported based on the following website,
but please let me know as I need to report this to our customers.

  • Hi Kanae-san,

as for AM62x upstream support, first I want to say that we (TI) are fully committed to an "Upstream First" approach for our Sitara devices for all related projects like the Linux Kernel, U-Boot, ATF, etc. Note that the AM62 family devices was just very recently released to the market and the effort to fully enable it are ongoing.

Specifically, I just checked with our Linux R&D team and we are currently at approx. 40% complete with the upstream effort. The goal is to have it fully enabled targeting kernel v5.26 (~10/23). The AM62 device should boot to prompt already using latest upstream Kernel + U-Boot (the base U-Boot support went just in), that's something we are about to spend time on verifying. Of course it doesn't mean it's fully enabled yet, but only the first stage. Hence a completion target of kernel v5.26 if all goes well.

If you are interested for specifics related to DRA829, please post that as a new/separate question (it will get managed by a different team).

    Regards, Andreas

  • Hi Andreas,

Thank you for your quick reply.

I will share it with my customer.
