 would completely reinstalling CCS 12.7.1 from scratch on Linux resolve the issue? It concerns me that the Windows 10 vs Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS versions of CCS 12.7.1 differ on this ARM compiler 20.2.7 behavior.

 Do we know if CCS Theia has this similar problem?

CCS Theia uses a different updating mechanism than CCS Eclipse so it may be unaffected. However there may still be some naming inconsistencies with how it is shown in the product discovery list.
