TDA2E: Help needed for selecting the accessories for the TDA2Ex spectrum digital EVM vision kit

Part Number: TDA2E

Hi,

We will be shortly working on the TDA2Ex ES2.0 GP EVM Vision Kit

1) we  need one MIPI CSI2 camera to connect to the EVM vision kit and  need TI’s suggestion. The  MIPI CSI2 based camera sensor is planned to be connected to the CSI2 port of the EVM CPU board. We plan to use this sensor to develop and test the 8 bit extraction of CAL output which we will need in the final board(In the final board we are having 24bit mipi input and need to extract the 8 bit data from the 24 bit input e2e.ti.com/.../569557).

Preferably this MIPI CSI2 camera should have been already tested on the  vayu evm board by TI.

 2) Also we want to confirm the following path of the MIPI CSI2 driver source code (ti_components/drivers/starterware_01_07_00_19/vpslib/hal).

Is this the same driver which TI has tested for the MIPI CSI2 interface? (vision sdk 2.11 release)

3) Can we get more details from TI regarding the test setup used by TI for MIPI CSI2 interface testing on EVM vision kit(camera sensor used, part number etc).

4) We plan to use the spectrum digital deserialiser (703769-0001) and serialiser (703817-0001). Has this been tested on EVM vision kit by TI? In the vision sdk user guide for TDA2Ex only SV600964 board has been mentioned.

Thanks

Vijay

  • Hi, Vijay,

The experts have been notified. They will respond here

  • Hi Vijay,

On 1, please check the thread (e2e.ti.com/.../569557)
On 2, CAL driver has 3 components.
    a. HAL : Hardware abstraction : which would be at "ti_components/drivers/starterware_01_07_00_19/vpslib/hal"
    b. Core : Most of the driver logic : at "ti_components/drivers/starterware_01_07_00_19/vpslib/calcore"
    c. DRV : Methods to handle queuing of frames and others at "/ti_components/drivers/bspdrivers_xx_yy_zz/src/vps/captdrv. This is generic capture driver used for CSI2/VIP based captures.

    On 3, We used
    a. Serializer OV10635 + UB913 serializer (SAT0088 + OV10635 camera module) support.spectrumdigital.com/.../
    b. De Serializer UB964 EVM receiving (4 channels) FPD Link III and transmitting the same on CSI2, which inturn received by TDA2Ex.
Please talk to FAE supporting you on this for details on UB964.

On 4, can you please include the links?

    Regards,
    Sujith
  • I have added the links below for point 4 . Also added one more question

    3. b. I assume you connected the MIPI CSI2 output of the deserialiser UB964 EVM to the CSI2 port on the TDA2Ex cpu board.

    4. We plan to use the spectrum digital deserialiser (703769-0001 www.spectrumdigital.com/.../) and serialiser (703817-0001 www.spectrumdigital.com/.../). Has this been tested on EVM vision kit by TI? In the vision sdk user guide for TDA2Ex only SV600964 board has been mentioned.

    5. I am planning to use only 2 serialiser instead of 4 serialiser for the setup in point 4 above. Do i need to configure the serialiser/deserialiser myself or will TI provide the configuration for serialiser/deserialiser for 2 serialiser connection to deserialiser (assuming that the configuration of serialiser/deserialiser differs for 4 serialiser input and 2 serialiser input).

    Thanks
    Vijay
  • Hi Vijay,

    On 3.b. That's correct

On 4. The de-serializer (www.spectrumdigital.com/.../) dosen't output CSI2 stream. It outputs on a parallel interface. I am not sure if you require it. You are probably looking for www.ti.com/.../DS90UB964-Q1EVM

4.b. VisionSDK support also supports www.spectrumdigital.com/.../ The Camera module in this, consists of a serializer and camera unit. This camera module could also be used with UB964.
4.c. I am not clear, as to why would require only the serailizer module? Are you planning to design your own camera that plugs into the serializer.
4.d. If so, serailizer has needs on pixel clock and the crystal required. Please pay attention to these, refer the UB913 spec for more details.

    5. VisionSDK demo applications (usecase) expect 4 modules, you might have to update the usecase/demo apps to limit it to 2 camera modules. The serializer configuration is same for all modules.

    Sujith
  • Hi Sujith,

    Thanks for your response.

On 4. I am aware of that. We are looking at both CSI2 and parallel input cases. In that regard I was asking whether the UB914 based spectrum digital Deserialiser has been tested. Since in point 4.b you have mentioned that the UB914 based surround view kit has been verified on TDA2Ex then I believe my question has been answered as yes.

on 4.c and 4.d maybe there was some miscommunication. I meant to use UB913(ser) with UB964/UB914(dser) and hence wanted to know whether these combinations have been tested by TI on TDA2Ex

  • Hi Vijay,

    Yes, combination of 913 - 914 & 913 - UB964 is supported in VisionSDK.
