AM4378: monitoring DDR3 accesses

Part Number: AM4378
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSEMU560V2STM-U

Hi,

My customer wants to monitor DDR3 accesses for debug.
They uses TMDSEMU560V2STM-U and both JTAG and EMU pins are available on their board.

Q) Is it possible to monitor DDR3 access by JTAG or Trace using CCS?

Thanks and regards,
Koichiro Tashiro

They may be able to use System Analyzer, but I will need to confirm that they can collect statistics with DDR3.

    Thanks

  • Hi ki,

    Thanks for your reply.
I will wait for your confirmation.

  • Looking at the available options for Hardware Trace on my AM437x IDK, I do see an option to collect Memory Throughput Analysis data by monitoring the EMIF subsystem. It can also be configured to collect other data. It is worth a look for the customer. As for getting specifically DDR read/write access counts, I'm not sure how exactly to configure that. I will need to reach out to some of the hardware experts.

  • Sorry for the delay. As soon as I get an update I will be sure to pass it along.

  • I brought this thread to the device experts. You should hear an update shortly. Thank you for your patience.

  • If you just want various counts (read/write accesses, activates, etc) on the DDR bus, you can use the performance counters in the EMIF.  However, there is no way to monitor the DDR bus with trace.  You would have to make provisions on the board to do this.
