I am following up on a technical issue I had previously raised regarding the IWR6843AOPEVM and a custom board I designed, as referenced in my earlier question about nine months ago. I am now creating a new thread to seek further assistance and provide additional context.

In my earlier inquiry, (Link) I described encountering an error message in Uniflash that stated, "unable to open COM Port" while attempting to flash firmware onto the IWR6843AOP using connector P2. You can refer to my original question for a detailed description of the issue and the attached schematic file.

Upon further investigation, I realized that both the flashing and functional modes of the device require reading the image from the onboard serial flash. However, in my schematic, I had omitted the serial flash. Could this omission be the cause of the issue I am experiencing?

I would greatly appreciate your review and insights on this matter. Please let me know if providing additional details or files would be helpful for your assessment.

Hi Gagandeep,

I went over the schematic and could not find any major issues. Could you please check the VBGAP voltage if it is 0.9V, this will help us to verify if the device is waking up. Also, after connecting JTAG could you please read the SOP mode register to determine if the correct SOP mode registration is happening.

SOP mode register: FFFF E268 (Flash mode should read 0x00000005, Functional Mode should read 0x00000001)

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortuanely, the sample boards we produced for prototyping are not working as we had experimented a lot with them while debugging. I will try to get you this information. But it will take some time.

In the meanwhile, could you please provide confirmation on whether the on-board serial flash provided in the EVK design is a mandatory requirement for AOP functioning or not ?

Hi Gagandeep,

QSPI Flash is not a mandatory requirement in production devices. Bootloading can also be done over SPI and UART interfaces. Please kindly refer to the below appnote.
