Hi expert,
The customer tested the normal operation current of TL074 is about 8mA at the VCC pin. On the datasheet, it shows that the supply current is 1.4~2.5 mA for each amplifier in no load condition. 8 mA is within this range. While the customer think 8mA Icc is a little high, they want to know if there is any method to decrease the operation current.
Lenna,
The answer is no.
We have other op amps with lower current. The main parameter is supply voltage. A lower bandwidth and slew rate can also help find a reduced Iq device.
Hi Ron,
Thanks for your reply. You mentioned the main parameter is supply voltage. Does that mean customer can decrease the power consumption by decrease the supply voltage and the current keep the same in this condition?
Lenna,
Supply voltage is a main parameter because that is important in every application. TL074 supports high voltage and most op amps do not. If the voltage is lower than 30V then more op amp options will be available.
