TUSB1002: Please review the schematic

Hello TI experts,

my customer considers TUSB1002 for their new product, and they drew 1st schematic. could you review the schematic?

and I have some questions,

1. four CHx_EQy pins have 4-level input. can I control it with MCU output?

2. this application is USB dongle with secure function and BLE communication. and as you see, the user can connect their usb device both usc b connectors.

in this case what mode should I use? single channel operation(mode=1) or dual channel operation(mode=F)?

3. we should control enable and disable of TUSB1002, according to the user's intentions. which control of pin is suitable for this operation? EN pin or SLP_S0# pin?

4. I think the layout of USB signal is very important, could you give me some documents for guide of USB signal layout?

TUSB1002 has bug, suggest to use TUSB1002A

Thank you for your reply.

I checked the datasheet of TUSB1002A, i found the difference only pin 14. (DCBOOST# or SLP_S0#)

except this, I think I can use this schematic without changes.

Assuming I used TUSB1002A, could you review this schematic?

also I want to know more difference between TUSB1002 and TUSB1002A, except pin 14.

TUSB1002 has a bug which will enumerate an USB3 device as USB2 device.

Hi Brian,

Please let me know if there are any suggestions for the schematic uploaded.

and I have more questions,

1. In pin 8 and pin 9 of TUSB1002A, it is used 100nF serial capacitor in datasheet (revised November 2018), and 330nF capacitor in EVM user guide (revised April 2018). which one is right?

2. partner of my customer said that it is good to remove power plane and ground plane under thermal pad of other redriver IC, for impedance characteristics of USB signal routing. is it also good for TUSB1002A?

(I asking this because it is clearly mentioned in figure 25 in datasheet, example layout. i can see the pad for thermal pad and via to L2 ground.)

you can accept my friendship request and send schematic with messsager.

1: if connect to USB host or device, it should be 100nf, if connect to USB connector , it can be 330nf or no Cap.

2: no good, thermal pad of USB1002A should connect to ground.
