AM2432: Warm reset(Warm boot) can be controlled by only SW without HW logic?

Part Number: AM2432

Hi Expert,

Can I ask a basic question and get your advice about a warm reset (warm boot)?

For warm reset, HW logic is required or it can be controlled by only SW?

I would appreciate it if you explain the purpose of the warm reset and how it operates as well.

Regards,

Moonil

  • Hi Moonil,

The AM243x devices have support for both HW (pin-triggered) and SW (register-triggered) warm resets.

The warm reset is a non-PORz/cold reset type. This means the reset can be issued with out powering down the board and repeating the power-on boot sequence. All devices implement these resets in an SoC-specific fashion.

Please refer to chapter 5.3 Device Configuration - Reset of the AM243x Technical Reference Manual for additional details (link and Reset Sources screenshot below).

Please follow up with any additional questions after reviewing the TRM.
