Hello. I hope a TI field applications engineer or anyone involved in industry, consumer electronics, avionics or medical electronics can answer my question: Where (in what products or commercial brands or automovile manufacturers, etc) are TIVA TM4C1294 and 129E microcontrollers used for commercial products today? Who buys the gross production of this family to integrate its products? Or its main use is for hobby and leisure by electronics hobbyists? This questions arises form a debate held at my engineering school, where some people considers TIVA C series obsolete products. They might be, compared to other families from other manufacturers, but the ease of use and lots of documentation available make them an excellent candidate for teaching microcontroller science to bachelor students. The school has been using this TIVA C platform for its embeeded systems courses for several years, and although the evaluation kits are becoming difficult to buy from TI store, some of us think that these microcontrollers are a good choice for college engineering programs. All opinions will be truly appreciated.
Hi,
Tiva MCU is widely used in the industry. I cannot tell you on a public forum who they are. This MCU is definitely NOT obsolete. Not sure where you get that impression. We are actively supporting this MCU.
Hi. Thanks for your answer. I understand there are non-disclosure selling agreements with your customers, but could you name a few actual products in which Tiva processors can be found and traced? All my searches resulted in just 2 products: a hard disk controller from 9 years ago and a no longer produced toy. And if you could help pointing me to an email or departament where they can answer questions about how to buy easily the EK boards in Mexico ( my engineering school is located at Mexico City)? Mosts students in Mexico City willing to buy directly from TI e-shop face always a problem: A legend apears at check out saying that "your company has already bought to many boards and you have to wait 20 days" when they don't even work at the same company or they do not work at all (being full time students) and they end up buying it at mouser, digikey or amazon at twice or trice the original price.

TI tries to prevent some brokers or people who are not legitimate/authorized TI distributors from purchasing these boards in volume and resell on the public marketplace like Amazon. This is not something I can support on e2e. E2e is mainly for technical discussion only. If you have technical questions on how to use the board and MCU, I'm more than happy to assist. As for why TI store is blocking you from purchase it is really not something I know why and can support. Please understand. Please contact your local TI representative or contact https://www.ti.com/info/customer-support.html for non design related support about product purchasing.
