MSP430FR5739: MSP-FETFlash Emulation Tool Speedchange does not work by using bsl-scripter

Hi,

I am using MSP-FETFlash Emulation Tool(rev. 1.2) with bsl-cripter and trying to change BAUDRATE without success:

LOG

MODE FRxx I2C COM4 100000

RX_PASSWORD .\pass.txt

No matter what Baudrate I set (400000, 100000 or 100001) i allways measure 478Kbit/s with my scope.

Whith this "high" speed my BSL-Bootloader is not working.

Is there anything I may need to do differently to have 100kbit/s?

the "MSP430FR5739" I just selected to define a partnumber. This question is in general about the bsl-scripter and MSP-FETFlash Emulation tool using I2C.

Hi David,

According to the document, The maximum I2C clock rate is 55 kHz. So my recommendation is just leave baudrate setting blank which means use the default baudrate.

Hi,

I have also read this and also tried to just not define the speed.
If I don't define the speed I get the message that default speed of 100K will be used - But the real speed I measure is still 478Kbit/s.

I am using CCS Version: 8.0.0.00016 and MSP-FETFlash Emulation Tool(rev. 1.2) .

Hi David,

If you read the MSP430FR5739 datasheet, you will find MSP430FR5739 only support Hardware UART Bootloader (BSL) which means no IIC BSL supported in MSP430FR5739.

Hi David,

Sorry for the late reply. I have already reported this issue to MSP430 tools team. And they are working on it.
I also run the same test with MSP-BSL tool (BSL Rocket) and no issue was found. We can configure 100k or 400k IIC speed for IIC BSL. So you can use "BSL Rocket" tool if possible.
