CCS/MSP-EXP430G2ET: one of the connected MSP-FETS/Ez-FETS debugger needs recovery

We have replaced the old MSP-EXP430G2 kits with the MSP-EXP430G2ET for my Microcontroller classrooms. One of my students bought also a new kit, but he is having an issue wich makes unable to program the new kit. When he tries to load a program in CCS (v 9.1) he obtains a popup message with this text:

"Error intializing emulator: One of the connected MSP-FETS/Ez-FETS debugger needs recovery. Select "Recover" to start the recovery process". But when he click "Recover" the recovery process finally fails.

What can we do to recover the launchpad form this problem?

Hallo Ignacio,

thanks for contacting the forum.

I need some additional information to better understand the issue.

What is the OS you are using?
Have tested also with a newer version of the CCS?
Have you tried in another PC?
In the device manager is it detected as HID device?
is it directly connected to USB or over a Hub?

Hello Kostas, and thanks for your help. I asked my student for more information about the problem. He is working on windows 7. When he plugs in the Launchpad a yellow triangle appears at Device Manager, but he says that the triangle vanishes a short after. I asked him to look for new devices appearing at the Device Manager; waiting for his response.
