TPA3110D2 in BTL with 4Ohms and 22.5Vcc

Q: TPA3110D2 in BTL with 4Ohms and 22,5Vcc
I would like to to use the TPA3110D2 in BTL. I have 22.5Vcc and 4Ohms load. the d/s specifies at Vcc >15V a min load from 4.8Ohms.
What could could happen, if I use the device under this conditions? Is only the power losses which may cause problems?

Figure 15 in the d/s pretty much tells the story… This is going to push way too much power dissipation in the chip, and the PowerPAD can’t dissipate that much power, so you will go into thermal…
TPA3100D2 would be much better for this application as it is a lot more efficiency than the TPA3110D2. But, even for that device, you will note that Figure 12 doesn’t really recommend this combination… Using BTL and 4 ohms and high VCC is a poor combination. It will work if you aren’t trying to get a lot of output power. It’s all just a matter of power dissipation.
Another option would be TPA3123D2 – it is single-ended output, so the power dissipation is reduced by half!

The point is that the 22.5V are available, and I dont want to convert the Vcc down with a buck converter ... but isnt it possible to limit the power over the PLIMIT feature, that no damage will happen?
Yes, it is possible to limit the power, but it's still going to be considerably hotter because of the small load. How much output power are you looking to get?
I hope to get 2x15W. Do you think this can be as good limited that the device will not get any damage?
You simply cannot get 2x15W out of this device with a 4 ohm load due to thermal limitations. It took all but about 5 seconds for it to shut down for me with that high of an output. The TPA3100D2 is a better option for your application.
